Rural and regional women around Australia and the world are accustomed to facing the challenges that life throws at us, turning many of them into opportunities and seeking out new and different ways of approaching them in the future. Resilience is at the foundation of this, by definition being the “process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress”.
In a recent article published by UN Women Australia they summarised the situation well;
“Rural women play a crucial role in agriculture, food security and nutrition, land and natural resource management, and rural enterprises. They have been at the front lines of responding to the pandemic even as their unpaid care and domestic work increased under lockdowns, mobility is restricted, supply chains are disrupted, and climate and conflict crises compound COVID-19 impacts.”
At the MBC Women in Agribusiness event in March 2020 we spoke of the value of sharing our stories and supporting each other. The overwhelming events of the last 7 months having magnified the importance of this even more. Certainly, the way we practically do this has changed… we are now adept at Zoom, WhatsApp, Facetime, Webinars and air kisses and hugs from 1.5m!
The MBC Team has also made significant changes to the way we operate and how we work with our clients. We continue to understand the absolute importance of face to face contact but have also embraced technology solutions which enables remote working, cloud-based information sharing and collaboration and improved options for clients to monitor their business performance.
MBC has launched MBC.Ag
A big development is our recent launch of MBC.Ag, which further expands our long-term commitment and passion for agriculture and farming communities. MBC.Ag is a focused and dedicated service for our farming clients, assisting farming families and agribusinesses to define their direction, set an action plan, and determine personal and business goals.
We believe that it is critical to have accurate and up to date data that you can use to monitor performance, reflect on the past and set a clearly defined plan of action for the future. It is also important to maximise time efficiencies by having technology solutions which are integrated. To deliver this for our clients, we have partnered with Figured who offer a complete livestock, dairy and crop budgeting, production tracking, and forecasting tool that gives accurate data in one place, in real time. Its production planning and farm budgeting tools work seamlessly with online accounting software, Xero, enabling farmers to plan ahead with confidence and easily re-forecast when conditions change. Because it’s all online, the whole farming team can collaborate using real-time financial information, wherever they are working.
The MBC Team is out on the road again, so if you’d like to us to show you a demonstration of Figured, or chat to us about your farm business we are more than happy to come out and see you.
